Cross-Cultural Counseling
Therapy for cross-cultural multilingual couples
Love speaks many languages — but even love can get lost in translation.
Relationships between partners from different cultures offer rich potential for growth, discovery, and emotional depth. Yet they also bring unique challenges: misunderstandings rooted in cultural values, differing family expectations, communication styles, or unspoken assumptions that can quietly erode connection over time.
In our work together, we’ll explore how your cultural histories shape the way you connect, disagree, and dream about your future as a couple. My goal is to help you build a shared language — emotionally and practically — without losing the richness of your individual identities.
In cross-cultural couples, conflict often isn’t just about “who's right” — it's about what feels normal, safe, or respectful to each person. When these expectations clash, partners may unintentionally hurt one another without understanding why. In our sessions, we slow down these moments, uncover the cultural assumptions beneath them, and practice new ways of relating that honor both of your perspectives.
I offer sessions in English, Spanish, Russian, and Ukrainian.
No matter the language or background, you're welcome here — as you are.
If you feel like you're speaking different emotional languages — even in the same room — you're not alone. Cross-cultural couples counseling can offer you a space to slow down, reconnect, and rediscover what brought you together in the first place. You're welcome to reach out with any questions or to schedule an initial session. I'm here to support both of you — in your language, and at your pace.

What We Work On Together
"A relationship is like a house. When a lightbulb burns out you do not go and buy a new house, you fix the light bulb"
Cross-cultural relationships are layered — beautiful, complex, and sometimes confusing.
In our sessions, we make space for honest conversations about the real challenges you're facing — without blame, shame, or assumptions. Here are some of the most common themes we explore together:
-
Cultural clashes and value differences
-
Communication breakdowns
-
Conflict resolution across different worldviews
-
Parenting with mixed cultural backgrounds
-
Family expectations and pressure
-
Identity and belonging within the relationship
These topics often overlap. A disagreement about “something small” might reflect deeper questions like: Whose traditions matter more?, Where do we draw the line between loyalty to our roots and loyalty to each other?
We’ll take the time to unpack those questions — carefully and compassionately.
Who I Work With
I support couples at various stages of their shared path:
-
partners just starting a life together across borders
-
couples who’ve been together for years but feel stuck in cultural or emotional patterns
-
those going through crisis moments or significant transitions
-
partners seeking deeper understanding, even without major conflict
-
You don’t have to be on the edge of separation to come to therapy. Sometimes, a few focused sessions can help shift long-standing misunderstandings or renew the sense of connection you thought you’d lost.
You’re welcome here — wherever you are on your journey.
A Safe, Supportive Space
Opening up about your relationship can be hard. Doing it in a language that’s not your own can make it even harder. That’s why I offer sessions in English, Spanish, Russian, and Ukrainian — to help you feel at home in the language where your emotions live.
My approach is warm, respectful, and non-judgmental. I’ll never “take sides.” Instead, I listen for what each of you needs in order to feel seen, heard, and safe. Together, we create a space where vulnerability isn’t a risk — it’s a starting point.
